Our client is an award-winning Local Council located 40 minutes from CBD. The department is responsible for the care and development of over 200 parks and reserves 50 sports field, 163 playgrounds, over 75,000 street trees. We are looking for an experienced Bushland Team Member to join their busy Bushland team for 3 months, while we are looking for their permanent Bushland Team Member.
Your new role
To assist with on-site preparation, weed control and maintenance works undertaken by the Bushland Unit and in association with various Friends, community and school groups.Remove rubbish from parks and reserves.
Demonstrate planting procedures to school and community groups.
Maintain records, i.e., timesheets, database planting records.
Operate, maintain and adjust all plant equipment.
Prune shrubs and lower canopy of trees in semi-natural areas.
To assist in the establishment of indigenous vegetation.
Responsible for ensuring that all work is undertaken safely and is not detrimental to the health and safety of fellow employees and the community.
What you'll need to succeed
- Ability to operate small plant and equipment
- Basic chainsaw operation.
- Knowledge of indigenous flora in the area
- Sound knowledge of urban re-vegetation practices and remnant vegetation protection.
- Good knowledge of integrated weed management practices using chemical and manual control options.
- Knowledge of Herbicide Application.
- Ability to operate four wheel drive vehicle
