We are working with a highly respected retailer who are renowned for their customer experience in store and online. With a new three-year strategy, their data platforms and reporting are in need of major uplift in order to attain the speed and precision of data they need across all their major profit metrics. Thus, they require a data centric Business Analyst to work closely with the Data, Integration, Security, and Application Teams, Business Application Owners, SMEs, and external application providers, to help facilitate the renovation of their existing Azure/Power BI based data platform.
Reporting into The Head of Data & Analytics, your role will be to gather requirements, analyse source system data, identify issues with current state source data, document business logic, define data transformation/cleansing rules, define metrics and produce data dictionaries/catalogs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review existing data models and schemas.
- Run discovery and requirements gathering workshops with a diverse range of technical and business stakeholders.
- Documentation of functional and non-functional requirements.
- Analyse and document source systems and data lineage.
- Define data models and entity relationship diagrams.
- Identify issues and inefficiencies in current state source data.
- Define data transformation and cleansing rules.
- Define business logic and metrics.
- Produce hierarchies and attribute lists.
- Development of data dictionaries/catalogs.
- Produce prototype reports and dashboards.
About you:
This role will suit a highly autonomous self-starter, who will relish the opportunity to work broadly across the entire business and take the lead in facilitating the business to make key decisions surrounding their data, processes, and metrics. You will have;
- Experience working as part of a Data/Reporting Platform implementation, preferably with Azure/Power BI.
- Experience with Retail systems, data and business processes.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data modelling principles.
- Exposure to Power BI and SQL.
- Experience with data catalog tools (e.g. Purview).
- Knowledge of data governance concepts, such as privacy and security considerations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, requirements analysis and facilitation experience.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
