The Australia Post Retail landscape is changing at a rapid pace and Australian business, consumers and the broader community require services that are relevant to how they will transact, get online, shop, pay and deliver. Australia Post’s primary objective of the Retail systems transformation is to improve and adapt the technology underpinning the Australia Post Retail Network to enhance and consistently improve the experience of customers when engaging with corporate and partner Post Offices and other Retail Operations. The Senior Business Analyst role is key to standardising and simplifying processes, and providing agility in responding to operational demands, supporting and efficient and enhanced customer experience in line with our customer’s expectations.
What you’ll deliver with us
As our Business Systems Analyst - Retail you will work alongside the business to define and document business requirements; liaises with architects, Business Solution Leads, designers, developers and testers to ensure the business requirements are understood. Contributes to building a relationship between the business and technology. Contributes to business implementation tasks including training, business process mapping and business readiness.
You will also collaborate with the Project Manager and other Business/Systems Analyst/s to build working relationships between the business and technology throughout the end-to-end software development lifecycle. Assists in the development of collateral, including but not limited to Business System Requirements Specifications and Interface Agreement Definitions, Stakeholder analysis activities, functional analysis activities, estimations, business case development, software package selection, proof of concepts and RFP processes.

- Contribute to solutions and logical designs that are: Robust; Fit for purpose; Cost effective; provided in a timely manner; Aligned with business directions and the enterprise architecture; and which protect and safeguard future business directions.
- Assist the business develop realistic, prioritised business requirements that will support the business cases.
- Create traceability of requirements.
- Develop logical designs (including functional specifications) and ensure the solution aligns with the solution architecture.
- Collaborate with the Solution Architect to provide options on how the solution can be implemented.
- Identify risks, issues and dependencies in the development of the solution.
- Review specification and design deliverables produced or updated as part of the Project Delivery Methodology.
About you
You are an experience Business Systems analyst who can liaise with the designers, developers and testers to ensure that all aspects of the end-to-end delivered solution match the stated requirements. It is key to contribute to the technology implementation tasks including liaison with service teams, transition to support and reviews of technical deliverables. You will at times assist business areas with user acceptance test (UAT) plans and specifications. Being confident enough to conduct or at least contribute to presentations of the proposal/solution to stakeholders is important.
You’ll also need
- Experience as a Business Analyst and/or Business Systems Analyst within a complex organisation.
- Entry-level process modelling skills.
- Background in compiling functional and integration specifications and associated artefacts.
- Has previously worked with Business Stakeholders to elicit requirements.
- Proven background working in a multi-disciplinary program team (Business, IT, Project, Vendors).
- Strong ability with writing technical specifications to support a technology solution.
- Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project delivery.
- Understanding of Retail environments is advantageous.
