How will I help?
Excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Business Analyst to join Westpac's Financial Market Transformation Delivery team as part of the BA Chapter. In this role you will work closely with the BA Chapter Leads and Product Delivery Managers on a range of business initiatives across the Financial Markets business.
The Financial Markets BA Chapter consists of a group of multi skilled Business Analysts who together drive and refine best practice tools and techniques to deliver exceptional tailor made fit for purpose solutions for our business partners.
As a member of the chapter, you will be exposed to a range of initiatives including but not limited to Regulatory, Data Analytics, Trading, Sales and Back Office providing an opportunity to further develop your knowledge and skills in a prestige operating unit. With a focus on data analytics, you will support the business make strides towards data-driven decision making, uplifting our client experience, driving efficient operations and enhanced risk management and compliance as part of our continuous improvement roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help facilitate and support requirements gathering workshops and meetings to identify and understand business requirements.
- Process mapping current versus future state.
- Support documentation and prioritisation of requirements in agile methodologies.
- Act as conduit between various stakeholder groups to provide clarity and alignment of requirements.
- Work closely with technology teams to design, develop, and implement data programs.
- Ensure that data pipelines, transformations, and integrations adhere to best practices and industry standards.
- Support Lead BA in working group and project committee meetings including the development of supporting material.
- Attend and feed into agile ceremonies as required (daily stand ups, sprint planning, prioritisation, retros).
- Identify, document and manage risks and issues.
- Partner with project delivery teams including IT, compliance and risk to deliver project objectives.
- Support end to end requirements traceability.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will have prior experience in a Business Analyst role within banking or financial services.
You will have experience in data and SQL, and a willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing business needs. You will understand business requirements, systems analysis and business process improvement.
A basic understanding of financial instruments, trading processes, and market dynamics, and proficiency in understanding data flows, transformations, and integration points, is essential.
Additionally, you may have the following:
- Ability to dissect complex problems, identify patterns, and propose data-driven solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders, developers, and data engineers.
- Experience with data governance, data lineage, and data quality management.
- Ability to work with Palantir Foundry, a powerful data platform for preparation, analytics, and machine learning.
- Understanding of FPML (Financial Products Markup Language) and FIX (Financial Information eXchange) specifications.
- Experience with statistical analysis and predictive modelling.
