An opportunity now exists for an experienced Business Development Manager (or experienced Adviser) to join our Business Development team. This role can be based in either our Melbourne or Sydney offices.

We are looking for an energetic, proactive and collaborative individual to contribute to the growth trajectory of our national Disputes practice groups.  You will work closely with PGLs, partners and clients, playing a key role in supporting these practice groups with their client and market growth initiatives and strategies.

Candidates will ideally have at least 5 years of Business Development experience, gained with a reputable commercial law firm. Applications from experienced disputes lawyers looking to pivot their career into Business Development will also be considered.

The Business Development Manager contributes to the firm’s client retention, client development and new Business Development initiatives through driving activities such as:

  • Identifying and prioritising opportunities at a practice, client and market level
  • Working with client teams to build relationships
  • Sharing insights within and across client teams and the broader Disputes practices
  • Taking responsibility and ownership for the execution of Business Development priorities, including taking the lead on agreed projects and initiatives
  • Work closely with the Practice Group Leader, Partners and Clients, providing subject matter expertise
  • Mentoring and providing support and guidance to Business Development Advisers and Coordinators

Required skills and experience

  • Marketing degree or relevant business qualification
  • 5+ years' experience in Business Development, within law or professional services
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to positively influence a variety of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with tender processes, including drafting
