Business Partner / Accountant

The Wallace Bishop Group is a family-owned jewellery and time piece retailer with a national presence that has been trading for over 100 years. The Group is made up of two retail brands plus a service and manufacturing workshop. 

We are seeking a Business Partner/Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team based in our conveniently located Newstead head office.

Key Responsibilities of the role will include:

• Undertaking the month end accounting and reporting process, including the development of complex journals, review/analysis of financial results and other month end activities
• Preparation and distribution of daily reports
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Preparation and oversight of asset registers, asset capitalisations and policies
• Understand, investigate, provide commentary and resolve variances as identified from reports
• Contribute to budget and forecast processes
• Preparation of short term cash flows for Manager review before submission
• Assistance with compliance reporting such as BAS, FBT, income tax returns
• Preparing journals
• Assisting with external audits
• Involvement in projects such as system implementations
• Identification and support for process automation and process improvements
• Liaise with internal stakeholders on financial outcomes
• Mentoring across the Finance Team
• Actively participate in and contribute to team meetings

To succeed in this role you will require:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• CPA or CA (or working towards achieving)
• 4+ years prior experience in a similar role
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to maintain and create models
• Ability to effectively manage large data sets and translate into meaningful outputs
• High attention to detail to maintain our high standard of accuracy and integrity
• Experience with Dynamics 365 desirable but not essential
• Experience with Pronto Xi desirable but not essential
• A capability to work, interact and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and build positive, professional relationships
• Strong team player
• Proactive and eager to learn
