Business Services/Tax Accountant

Qualifications & Experience:

• Completion or in-progress commerce-related degree
• Working knowledge of Xero and tax preparation software
• Previous experience in all administrative aspects of an accounting firm
• Working towards obtaining a CA/CPA qualification

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Perform bookkeeping and bank reconciliations for assigned client base, including coding and updating client files in Xero
• Handle payroll processing, including timesheets, pay slips, and super
• Prepare tax returns and Business Activity Statements (BAS) for clients, including workpapers and checklists
• Manage filing and scanning tasks efficiently
• Utilize client/bookkeeper-provided data to draft financial statements for partner review
• Address and resolve raised queries promptly
• Train and assist clients in using accounting systems (MYOB, Xero, Excel Spreadsheets, etc.)
• Develop expertise in income tax law, fringe benefits tax, corporations law, capital gains tax, stamp duty, GST, land tax, and payroll tax
• Meet deadlines and handle pressure effectively
