About the Role:
Join our team as a Cancer Information Manager on a Part Time Ongoing basis (Full Time will be considered) based at Moorabbin Hospital.
The Cancer Information Manager is a senior position within the SMICS team and will work across an extensive network to increase data capability and embed data-driven quality and performance monitoring, and service improvement, in line with the VICS Data and Information Management Framework. The Cancer Information Manager will provide strategic advice to SMICS and its member health services to embed data governance, analytics and evidence sharing practices in the SMICS catchment. This position will manage local and state-wide health datasets and analyse and translate data for key internal and external stakeholders.
The overall aim is to facilitate improvements in consumers’ experience of the cancer service system and treatment outcomes in the southern Melbourne region. The role will work under the direction of the SMICS Quality Manager and in collaboration with the SMICS team and our partner health services.
About Us: The Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service
The Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service (SMICS) is one of nine Victorian Integrated Cancer Services (VICS) who together form Victoria’s cancer services improvement network. We partner with public and private health services and other cancer care stakeholders to deliver key priorities in the Victorian Cancer Plan. SMICS builds relationships between healthcare providers and other cancer care stakeholders to develop, implement and evaluate initiatives that improve the way Victoria’s health services provide care and support to people affected by cancer. We work collaboratively across multiple levels of the health system to deliver high quality cancer care and system integration across southern Melbourne. We strive to improve the care, experience and outcomes of people affected by cancer.
About You
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Tertiary qualification in health information management, health informatics, data/computer science or equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training
- Extensive experience within a health-related data setting
- Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory and experience with data transformation using the Microsoft SQL Server suite and Microsoft Power BI
- Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills including sound working knowledge of general data analysis methods.
- Experience in documenting business, report design, technical and functional requirements.
- Familiarity with healthcare systems and knowledge of issues pertaining to the provision of high-quality healthcare services.
- Well-developed oral presentation and written communication skills, especially for reporting complex analysis.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in health record audit, data collection, management, analysis and reporting.
