Cancer Council Tasmania (CCT) is Tasmania’s leading cancer charity working hard to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians.
Through our advocacy and research grants, our free transport2treatment and supportive care services to our Cancer Prevention education resources and programs – we are here for all Tasmanians who may be impacted by cancer.
CCT is seeking a passionate health promotion professional on a part-time (0.6 FTE) basis. As the Cancer Prevention Officerfor Southern Tasmania, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our evidence based-prevention messaging. You’ll be the face of our initiatives, engaging with key stakeholders, schools, workplaces and community groups. Your mission: to empower audiences with knowledge about reducing their cancer risk. This multifaceted role involves using innovative communication methods across various platforms, including online channels and face-to-face interactions.
This is a diverse role. One morning you’re engaging with college students, discussing the importance of sun protection. Later that afternoon, you’re delivering a compelling presentation on bowel screening to a culturally diverse community. No two days are alike, and that’s what makes this role so exciting.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for someone with tertiary qualifications in public health, health science or community services, someone experienced and confident delivering information via formal face-to-face presentations through to more informal community events with varied and diverse audiences. You will need to hold a valid driver’s license and have a WWVP card or the ability to obtain one.
Of course there is a lot of preparation and organisation that goes along with it, so you need to be tech savvy and organised. You will have an opportunity to take charge of existing system, help develop and evaluate our programs and activities to ensure our messaging is right for our audiences and have the support of a state-wide team to help you succeed in this significant role.
