About the role
Due to growth at the plant in Murray Bridge we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Canteen Assistant. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-quality service to our team and maintaining a clean and organized canteen environment. Monday - Friday 6am - 2:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling dishes according to recipes or instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food items to prevent contamination and spoilage.
- Support kitchen staff during busy periods by replenishing supplies, restocking ingredients, and assisting with basic cooking tasks.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and guidelines, including proper food handling procedures and personal hygiene practices.
- Assist in serving food to customers or staff, ensuring prompt and courteous service.
- Clean and sanitize dining and food service areas, including tables, counters, and serving stations.
- Dispose of waste and recyclable materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Collaborate with kitchen and canteen staff to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient working environment.
- Stacking fridges with stock
- Perform other duties as assigned by kitchen supervisors or management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 15kg
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when necessary.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects if required.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
