Benchmark Canteens and Catering is a family-owned business within the Retail Food Industry. With our main focus being operating school canteens, we also provide specialised catering services for events and kids' cooking demonstrations. 

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Canteen Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of within one of our canteens located in the Hawkesbury area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the canteen, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, and providing excellent customer service to our school community.

This position is Permanent Part-time, minimum 3 days per week with start time 7:00am. Days are flexible but must include Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the canteen, including food preparation, service, and cleanup.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of food and supplies.
  • Supervise, mentor and train staff in kitchen operations, food preparation and safe food handling techniques in accordance with health & hygiene regulations
  • Maintain reporting records.
  • Ensure that the cleaning and maintenance of the canteen and its utensils is carried out to a high standard in order to comply with the Australian Food Safety Assessment.
  • Handle cash transactions and reconcile daily sales reports.
  • Address any customer concerns or complaints in a prompt and professional manner.

Successful applicants require the following:

  • MUST be able to work 3 - 4 days per week (Mon - Fri) from 7:00am - 1:30pm/2:00pm
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adaptive within a fast-paced environment
  • High-level initiative, time management and organisational skills 
  • Be a team-player, working collaboratively with co-workers, school staff and students
  • Excellent personal presentation and hygiene 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Experience with Quick Maths, Eftpos and window service
  • Previous experience within a similar role is desirable.
  • Qualifications and/or relevant experience in food handling/food hygiene standards and the ability to manage issues relating to food intolerances 
  • Hold or willing to obtain a Food Safety Supervisors certificate and follow guidelines diligently 
  • Knowledge of Flexischools App is an advantage
