About the opportunity:
Join our dynamic team at Samaritans, where we're dedicated to enhancing child and family well-being through our Early Intervention and Prevention programs. As a Team Leader, you'll oversee a diverse team across Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Newcastle, Lower Hunter, and Coonabarabran. Your role involves leading initiatives to bolster effective parenting skills, address parental concerns, and amplify family resilience. You'll coordinate evidence-based programs, including parenting education, supported playgroups, and family-centered case work. With a focus on safety, well-being, and attachment, you'll empower families to nurture environments where children can flourish. Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Welfare or Teaching and a minimum of 3 years experience working with children and families
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience of working with children and their parents/ carers.
- Experience in supervising a team and providing clinical and reflective supervision
- Experience in evaluating program effectiveness, data management and preparing reports
- Knowledge and proven skills in assessing child development and understanding child behaviour
- The ability to develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with internal and external services.
- Experience in running parenting groups such as 123 Magic and Emotion Coaching, Bringing Up Great Kids and Circle of Security or a willingness to train in these or similar evidence based parenting groups.
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of the child protection framework within NSW.
- Advanced computer literacy and administrative skills, including the use of computerised information systems to make case notes.
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability, including case records, team and organisational discussions.
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles and legislative requirements of child protection, WHS, cultural diversity and ethical practice
- Proven ability to effectively and proactively network and liaise with government and non-government service providers
