About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate Vet Nurse who can work independently with a reliable, adaptable and proactive approach to your work.
We are looking for a nurse with the following skills:

  • Assist cardiologist in consults, examination of patients as well as coordination of medications, plans and patient care
  • Assist with echocardiography of patients.
  • Perform ECGs
  • Become proficient in the placement, downloading and reading of Holter monitors, including ordering of equipment and entering monitor results into patient records
  • Be proficient and confident in the placement of nasal oxygen in heart failure patients, setting up and monitoring of CRIs as required, placement of IV catheters and monitoring of patients with respiratory compromise
  • Assist with breeder heart checks via coordinating the paperwork, scanning microchips, and organizing the patients
  • Treatments of cardiac patients in hospital. Occasional cases may require ventilation
  • Assist cardiology procedures & general hospital fluoroscopies as needed
  • Ordering cardiac specific drugs and devices required for cardiac procedures
About You:

  • Completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
  • A minimum of 4 years, full-time experience as a qualified nurse
  • Motivation and participation in continuing education outside of paid work
  • Experience working in an emergency referral hospital
Desirable:
  • Previous experience as a Cardiology Nurse is highly regarded.
  • Previous experience as a Specialist Nurse in Surgery, Medicine or Anesthesia would be highly regarded but is not essential.
