About the opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Career Consultant to join our Career Services team. Reporting to and working closely with the Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing one-on-one career and employment counselling and advocacy to Luma’s clients, through the ParentsNext programme and other programmes within Career Services. Our ParentsNext programme provides pre-employment and career counselling support to parents with children aged under 6 receiving Parenting Payment. The programme works from a voluntary participation model.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advocating on behalf of Luma clients for access to education, training, employment, and referrals to other services as required.
- Providing support to clients in securing employment through one-on-one job application and job seeking appointments.
- Upskilling participants in their job seeking capabilities and employability skills.
- Developing and delivering group workshops to build resilience, motivation, work readiness and social connection.
Understanding and knowledge of the needs and issues relating to Aboriginal women and their families and experience in working with Aboriginal communities will be highly regarded.
In this role you will need a tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as; Career Development or Social Work. Knowledge of the Australian labour market, training, and employment programmes is desirable.
This is a permanent part-time position. Travel to our Northbridge, Mirrabooka, and Midland Offices will be required.
