Job Description
The School is seeking an energetic Careers Practitioner to work full-time in our Senior School. This position involves cultivating mutually beneficial partnerships with relevant organisations to enhance student career success.
Responsibilities include overseeing and delivering Year 7 – 12 career-related programs to ensure students are well-informed about their potential future study and career options. The Careers Practitioner is also responsible for preparing students for their post-school journeys. Collaboration with School staff and parents is essential to promote the significance of career development planning. Additionally, the role encourages teaching staff to integrate elements of career development education and work-integrated learning activities into Guildford Grammar School programs.
Key responsibilities and tasks include but are not limited to:
- Offer up-to-date information on various careers, including job descriptions and academic/personal prerequisites.
- Support and guide students in aligning their areas of study with their career and personal goals beyond secondary school.
- Conduct career counselling sessions for both students and parents, providing individualised guidance.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of careers pathways and options to provide information about the future of work including non-academic workplace and employer expectations.
- Maintain accurate and current records of student career goals according to professional standards.
- Contribute to planning and meetings that support students, parents and school initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- Maintain an excellent knowledge of post-school study options.
- A well-developed knowledge and experience in career counselling.
- Knowledge of Tertiary and State Training Providers’ (STPs) entrance requirements.
- Comprehensive leadership experience within the education sector.
- Relevant qualification in Career Development.
- Hold current Working with Children Check.
- Hold a current TRBWA (desirable).
- Have the right to work in Australia.
