Katanning Senior High School (SHS) are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Career Practitioner Teacher to join their school.
About the role
As our Career Practitioner, you will have strong communication skills and be able to liaise with and share information easily with students, staff, parents, training providers, employers, and industry. You will develop career education and career learning programs as required, source and provide high quality, accurate, unbiased, and current career pathway and labour market information and encourage individual pathway planning across Years 7 to 12.
Our Career Practitioner should ensure the consistent delivery of our career planning resources from Year 7 – 12 and ensure every student benefits from Individual Pathway Planning. The ideal candidate should proactively seek out new and emerging opportunities for our students and work in collaboration with other staff at our College to ensure every student is on a path to a successful future.
You will also be responsible for coordinating a range of incursions and excursions as part of the Year 9 Career Taster Program.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Katanning SHS in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
