The Learning Facilitator is responsible for preparing, delivering and assessing subjects as allocated in the Counselling, Psychology and Communication Disciplines.Learning Facilitators must work to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes/competencies and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. Lecturers must participate in course review initiatives, including validation and moderation activities and are required to be available to provide student support outside of timetabled class hours.About you:Experience using counselling skills in a Health contextBe an expert communicatorExperience in communicating and collaborating in a range of diverse settings including multi-modal and interprofessionalHave undertaken counselling as part of health training and be familiar with the Micro-skills, core conditions and philosophiesExperience in teaching the fundamentals of self-reflection and person-centred practiceExperience and a passion for teaching first year studentsQualified in a relevant related health field (eg. Counsellor, Psychology, Psychotherapist, Mental Health Practitioner, Mental Health Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse);Have a minimum 5-year post-qualification experience using Counselling skillsDay-to-day accountabilities:Delivering lectures, workshops, practical classes and tutorials as specified by the Program DirectorDesigning, preparing and developing best practice teaching materials for assigned subjects including lesson plans and activities for classes in multiple modes of delivery or intensive formatsManaging academic administration tasks in conjunction with the Program Director which may include subject coordination where requiredParticipating in course review initiatives, moderation and course development as necessaryIn collaboration with key staff, develop and delivering academic programs for students including orientation events, study skill development and other tutoring and mentoring initiatives;Providing on-going student supportThis is a casual position with face to face teaching at Melbourne’s Flinders St campus 2 day per week. We are recruiting for a Monday 3pm and Tuesday 8am classes in out Trimester 2 study period. Future opportunities for additional online teaching may be available.
