Job description

The Great Southern Hotel Sydney (GSH-Sydney) is a 4 Star hotel located in the heart of Sydney CBD. We are currently seeking an experienced Housekeeping Hotel Room Quality Controller/ Room Attendant on a casual basis to join our team. You must take pride in your work and be willing to go that "extra mile" to make our guest's stay an enjoyable one. This is a physically demanding role that requires an energetic and enthusiastic person who is ready and willing to work as part of a team.

About the role:
As our Room Quality Controller/ Room Attendant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate all Room Attendants work activities on a shift-to-shift basis, ensuring all department procedures are followed and daily tasks are completed according to the company standard. 
  • Conduct daily departmental meetings to brief Team Members on activities for the day and discuss any issues relevant to the shift and bring it to notice of the Executive Housekeeper Group 
  • Coordinate all Room Attendants hand over between shifts, communicating any requirements for subsequent shifts. 
  • Conduct an investigation of a room that was vacant clean prior to check in (2pm) that has become vacant dirty after 2pm before the end of your shift (4pm). Clean this room so that it is vacant clean so the room can be sold to a guest that night.  
  • Assist in the preparation of Team Member rosters, ensuring that optimum staffing is achieved within budgetary guidelines. 
  • Report all maintenance issues 
  • Implement special cleaning projects on a regular basis. 
  • Understand and implement all OHS and emergency procedures and ensures all Team Members are trained accordingly.  
  • Understand and implement all Great Southern Hotel policies and procedures, ensuring all Team Members abide by them. 
  • Implement strategies to increase the productivity and morale within the Department in conjunction with the Executive Housekeeper Group. 
  • Update SharePoint Reports daily as required.   
  • Conduct regular checks of all areas of the property to ensure that all facilities are being cleaned and maintained according to Health and Safety regulations and maintaining a quality product. 
  • Arrange daily linen checks 
  • To arrange end of Month Housekeeping inventory, including chemicals, amenities and supplies. 
  • Ensure that the trolleys are packed appropriately by the Room Attendants at the end of the day to enable a smooth operation for the following day. 
  • Assist in controlling of all Housekeeping Team Member uniforms, ensuring adequate supplies are available. 
  • React professionally and in a timely manner to all guest complaints, ensuring that follow up is completed and the Executive Housekeeper Group is informed. 
  • Ensure all lost property is accurately recorded and stored to ensure a quick return to guests. 
  • Assist the Executive Housekeeper Group with all Housekeeping activities, in order to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the entire property, while ensuring guest comfort always. 
  • Assist the Executive Housekeeper Group with the productivity, motivation and development of all line Team Members within the Housekeeping department. 
  • Accountable to the Executive Housekeeper group for maintaining the productivity of the department, within the budgetary guidelines. 
  • Liaise closely with the Front Office Manager and the Maintenance department to ensure a quick change over of rooms. 
  • Follows injury reporting procedures in accordance with the relevant legislation.
