About Me
I am a woman in my 70s with a wicked sense of humour and I am excited to be embarking on a new adventure, taking the first opportunity I’ve had to build my own Support Worker team and craft my life on my terms. I’ve been living with high support needs in my home in Goodwood for 25 years and want to build a team of thoughtful people who can assist me 7 days a week to live a good life, doing the things I love like attending the local Farmers Market.
I’m fiercely independent and enjoy working together with my team to complete as many day-to-day jobs around my home, like the laundry, as I can. I enjoy music and playing solitaire on my laptop. I like relaxed socialising and shopping in the CBD. I also enjoy watching crime and medical dramas and Westerns on TV.
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone who is a good listener and communicator (it doesn’t hurt to be a bit cheeky either). Choosing and directing my own team is a new experience for me so we’ll need to figure out how to do that well together. There is also a lot to understand about my physical support needs, of which I am the expert, so being attentive to detail and comfortable taking directions and asking for clarification when needed is essential.
A typical shift will involve assisting me to get up or wind down for the day with a 2-person transfer and some personal care. A successful applicant will be mature, patient, organised, and reliable. They will be practical and have good body and movement awareness.
This role also involves working closely with my family and the support team around me to deliver support in line with my vision for a good life.
Hours
The role will start at 10-15 hours per week depending on the candidate’s availability with regular shifts on specific days and times.
I like to keep a regular schedule with shifts in the mornings from 8:00-11:30 am and at night from 10-12 am. It’s also important for my team to have good availability and flexibility to cover for each other when people are sick or away.
Additional hours may become available as my team becomes established.
Remuneration and Training
The role is paid at level 2.1 casual base rate: currently $40.26 per hour. Salary Packaging may become available as your role grows.
