Environmental Health and Compliance plays a vital role in protecting the health, environment and safety of our growing City. Our team of dedicated professionals are responsible for environmental protection and public health programs, development compliance, regulatory and animal services.
About the role
Council is looking for a suitably qualified, professional and highly motivated person to join the Environmental Health Team in the position of Catchment Management Officer on a full-time temporary basis. This role will be involved in assessments of development applications and providing advice on catchment and water management issues, including water sensitive urban design. The role will also assist with projects, programs and awareness initiatives in relation to integrated Catchment Management, the protection and enhancement of waterways, water and liveability.
Essential criteria
Tertiary qualifications with studies in environmental related subjects such as Ecology, and/or Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Land Management, Environmental Management or Environmental Science
Knowledge of Catchment Management, natural resource management, water management and water sensitive urban design
Experience in development and implementation of Catchment Management projects, education and programs. This should include areas of natural resource management, environmental management and/or water management
Demonstrated high level of customer service, ability to work as a team member, verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving skills
A current Class C Driver Licence
Desirable criteria
Experience in the assessment of development applications related to Catchment Management and water sensitive urban design
Experience with water sensitive urban design modelling e.g. MUSIC Modelling
Knowledge of stormwater quality objectives as they relate to the Hawkesbury Nepean and Wianamatta South Creek catchments
Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation in NSW such as State Environmental Planning Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation) 2021, Water Management Act 2000 and relevant Development Control Plans
Commencing salary: $87,017.00 - 100,725.00 per annum, plus 11% Superannuation.
Access to a Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
This position requires the worker to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 or to hold a medical contraindication certificate.
