Address Randstad have partnered with a reputable Council within Melbourne’s Western Suburbs for the role of Category Manager. This is a contract position until the end of June with a split hybrid working environment
Responsibilities of Category Manager:
The Category Manager is responsible for overseeing diverse spend categories, driving organisational goals, contributing to procurement activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and implement strategies to meet business objectives, including sourcing, pricing, and product assortment.
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Conduct market research and analysis to understand trends, competition, and consumer preferences within the category.
Gather, analyse and interpret data
Work with stakeholders, with a view to improve value for money
Work closely with cross-functional teams such as marketing, sales, operations, and finance to ensure alignment of category strategies with overall business objectives.
Continuously evaluate and improve category management processes and practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
About you:
Proven expertise in a similar category management role including procurement, tendering, and contract management
Track record of achieving cost reductions
Experience developing procurement policies and procedures
Demonstrated success in delivering projects within tight deadlines
