A great opportunity to join a fast-growing company looking for a Category Manager – Apparel to work with the Merchandise Manager to develop and manage their apparel range for women, men, and kids.
About the role -
As the Category Manager for Apparel, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategies to enhance the Company own brand's presence in the apparel market. You will be responsible for establishing the category from scratch, designing, and curating the range, driving sales and margin growth, managing the product assortment, managing sell through, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the business while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Your responsibilities include –
- Accountability for end-to-end execution of category ranges from product design, curation and selection, order placement, timeline management and financial performance to deliver key metrics.
- Buying in line with category budgets and option plans to meet business targets.
- Managing repeat orders of best sellers and core lines to maximise sales.
- Ensuring assortment depth and size curves are relevant and in line with sales patterns.
- Reviewing weekly product lifecycle and sales trends, highlighting the best and worst performers and areas of opportunity.
- Analysing daily sales data and use this information to assist with the buy plan.
- Providing product performance feedback/findings to the design team and offering guidance for future developments.
- Achieving intake margin targets in line with business goals.
- Building and maintaining professional relationships with suppliers and factories.
- Following and contributing to the OTB process, including sales forecasting, product buy and markdowns.
- Maintaining a strong awareness of competitors and the marketplace.
- Analysing category performance and buying trends across all sales channels to build a deep understanding of the customer and the business.
- Regularly review future orders and current inventory hold, highlighting opportunities and risks.
- Working with the Marketing Team to ensure key items are promoted and featured in campaigns.
What we are looking for -
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Buying position in apparel.
- Demonstrated knowledge of merchandise planning, OTB management and ROI principles.
- Strong skills in the Microsoft Suite.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Understanding and solid interpretation of global trends.
- Good judgement and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage a high workload and meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organisational skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Can work autonomously, and as part of a team.
- Strong Communicator - ability to form relationships across the business.
