Uniline Australia, Pty Ltd, is an industry leader in the window furnishings industry in Australia and New Zealand. An exciting position has now come available in the Marketing and Product Development Team to manage and drive the future of the Internal Component Systems Division.

Position Title:    Category Manager - Internal Component Systems

Responsible for:

Initiating and assisting with the Group’s product management strategy to achieve the following goals. Including:

Ongoing sales growth, profitability and quality of the product category. Maintaining the current product portfolio, developing the future product road, marketing, advertising and promotional activities related to the success of the product category.

Reporting to: The Executive General Manager 

Main Activities:

  • Have full responsibility and work closely with the EGM to manage the internal product category, including responsibility for:
    • Australia and New Zealand markets, where the product is sold or supplied.
    • Sales performance of the product category.
    • Margin performance of the product category.
    • Inventory management of the product category.
  • Maintenance and constant improvement of the current product category.
  • Research and development of new and innovative products and technologies.
  • Developing product roadmaps.
  • Developing product business cases, return on investment analyses and inventory schedules.
  • Defining market requirements and technical product specifications.
  • Working closely with the R&D and quality engineers in the maintenance of current products, design and development of new products.
  • Performing final testing and approval of products before release to market.
  • Working closely with suppliers on finding the right product at the right price.
  • Developing positioning strategies and strategic product pricing.
  • Developing and executing new product introduction programs to staff and customers.
  • Developing and executing of monthly/quarterly product promotions.
  • Development and presentation of training programs to staff and customers
  • Assist in the development of marketing POS and web site content
  • Provide technical support and training to internal staff, customers and the customer service team.
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly reports to the management team on the performance of the product category.
    • The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification in Marketing or Business, or a degree in Mechanical and or Design Engineering and wanting to move into product development.

This role will involve regular travel for market research, training, supported by on-going visits to customers and suppliers nationally and internationally. 

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience in the window furnishings industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in the full product design lifecycle of products from idea-concept to final production and sales.
  • Strong Office Skills, Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and needs to have a hands-on attitude.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional collaborative teams in a technically challenging environment. Teams include - R&D, Sales, Quality, Purchasing, Logistics, Management and Suppliers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal English - hold effective training sessions with staff and customers.
  • A commitment to best practice, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

  • Must be willing to travel regularly, interstate and to New Zealand.
