SalaryJoin a global mining leader as their Principal Category Manager, Bulk Materials.
Not only will you be working in mining, one of Australia’s most significant industry sectors, but you will also be working for a significant global business with mine site operations across the world across multiple commodities. You will be reporting to a Contracts and Procurement Manager with a clear vision and a focus on driving cost-effective outcomes for the business. Please note a relocation is required to regional Queensland.
The Position:
As the Principal Category Manager, Bulk Materials you will be taking ownership of the sourcing and procurement of global suppliers for critical bulk materials while managing multi-hundred million dollars of spend in this critical, strategically focused role. You will be responsible for:
- Sourcing key bulk material suppliers globally
- Supply market analysis using your strong Excel and analysis skills
- High-level negotiations with suppliers that protect relationships while driving outcomes
- Developing commercial relationships with key suppliers
- Risk management, including ensuring viable alternatives to source
- Liaising with legal and suppliers around complex, multi-million dollar contracts
- Quality reporting to senior management
To be considered for this role, you must have extensive experience in procurement with experience working as a Category Manager in a large, complex organisation. While specific mining experience is not mandatory, previous work in mining, manufacturing, engineering, or construction will be highly advantageous. Effective communication skills, coupled with strong negotiation abilities, are crucial. You must negotiate optimal outcomes for the business while maintaining and fostering existing relationships. As this is a fast-paced and demanding environment, the ability to take ownership of your responsibilities swiftly is essential. Proficiency in Excel is required to support market analysis and reporting tasks. You should be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders at all levels
