Category Manager / Specialist - Assist in the creation of Category Strategy

This is an exciting role for a Category Manager / Category Specialist to join this well-established mining business.With the assistance of a highly experienced consultancy team, they are currently in the process of setting up their Category Management function. Joining at an exciting and innovative time in this process you will assist with developing, executing, and managing the sourcing strategy and tactical plans for centrally led categories.Duties:

Assist with best-in-class procurement processes, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring long term profitability, competitive advantage, and cost reduction.

Assist with creating sourcing strategy, supplier selection and evaluation, quality management and performance measurements.

Facilitate the bidding process including bid evaluation, recommendation of award, contract negotiations, contract finalisation and issuance.

Monitor and analyse contract performance against agreed benchmarks and through agreed reporting mechanisms.

Develop contract management tools, guidelines and manuals for standardisation and knowledge sharing purposes.

Undertake market surveys to ensure the availability of up-to-date information for categories.

Communicate, drive and foster trust with internal stakeholders to ensure business penetration of initiatives.

Development of forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory.

Skills:

Knowledge of procurement, tendering and contracting processes and requirements.

Experience of system enabled P2P processes

Project management experience

Ability to successfully address large, challenging supplier relationships.

The client is in the position to offer the role either on a contract or a full-time permanent salaried basis, depending on your preference.
