Experienced Centre Cook
Moreland Community Child Care Centres (MCCCC) is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that offers quality early learning programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years, offering funded Kindergarten.
We believe that education, social interactions and community participation help create a lifelong love of learning and foster a sense of belonging and identity for children. We integrate awareness of environmental sustainability, embedding Aboriginal perspectives and languages into our education programs.
We have 4 sites and are open 7am – 6pm Monday-Friday.
- Dunstan Reserve – 72 children per day in an age-based room setting
- Mitchell Street - 35 children per day and is a multi-aged Centre
- Tinning Street - 35 children per day and is a multi-age Centre
- North West Brunswick Kindergarten (NWBK) offering 3- and 4-year-old
About the position:
We are currently seeking an experienced Centre Cook to work at our Dunstan Reserve Centre. The position is a permeant part-time position, working Monday - Friday.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing high quality and nutritious meals for the children in the centre, with an in-depth knowledge of the food health and safety eating and preparation guidelines. Knowledgeable and confident in catering for children's allergy and dietary requirements.
If you have an Early Childhood Qualification, there are opportunities to extend your hours by being involved in a wider organisation role.
About you
- Efficient and capable cook
- Able to prepare, implement and evaluate the nutritional content of menus for children of all ages.
- Experienced in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control.
- Strict about complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations and standards.
- Able to cater for individual child requirements including allergies, specific dietary requirements and needs.
- Keen to participate in the early educational opportunities of teaching children about healthy food by sharing in lessons and family events.
You already have
- Current Food Safety and Handlers (Health and Community) Certificate
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery / equivalent (desirable)
- Experience in an early childhood setting
- A current Working with Children's Check
- A current certificate in First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma (or be willing to obtain)
