gforce Apprentices and Trainees is one of the region's largest employers of Apprentices and Trainees. We currently have an excellent opportunity for an initiative-taking individual to undertake a full time Traineeship in Certificate III Information Technology, with our host Meli in North Geelong, learning and assisting with Service Desk activities under the supervision and instruction of the Leader ICT Service Desk.
 
In April 2023, BCYF and Bethany merged to form Meli; a not-for-profit community services organisation, committed to supporting people and strengthening communities.
Meli offers a unique combination of services to support members of our community throughout their lifetime, from early childhood through to adolescence and adulthood.
 
The Role:
 
 Duties of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:
 

  • Provide assistance to the ICT Service Desk Officers with Level One ticket requests.
  • Support the ICT Service Desk Officers with tagging/barcoding ICT assets for allocation to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide assistance in the actioning of requests for user accounts, mailboxes and access permissions.
  • Assist in the allocation and return of ICT equipment for workplace participants.
  • Shadow ICT Service Desk Officers in the provision of training, orientation, and guidance to users.
  • Assist with documentation creation and maintenance as necessary.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the use of standard ICT applications.

  • Genuine interest and enthusiasm for working in an ICT service desk environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills – friendly, patient, approachable, helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal skills or willingness to develop these skills – e.g. comfortable communicating with employees in person, via telephone or email.
  • Good listening skills – ability to interpret the problem and document notes to pass on to Service Desk Officers to respond.
  • General understanding of Meli as an organisation – who they are, what they do, and personal alignment with the Meli values.

You will be required to work a 38-hour week (including TAFE training).
