Job description

Aus Flight Handling is a leading provider of Ground Handling and Air Cargo Services, servicing both Capital Cites and Regional Australian Airports.

Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for Casual staff members to join our team at Griffith Airport, where we provide ground and passenger handling services to several airlines operating both RPT (Regular Passenger Transport) and Charter services seven days a week.  While prior experience in aviation is highly desirable, we are also able to provide full training for the right candidate.

This position will see you as part of a small team performing both check-in and ramp operations, undertaking all tasks associated with the ground handling of aircraft for our client airlines.  You will initially receive training in basic functions of your role, and over time be progressively introduced to more complex functions and procedures.  Tasks you may be involved in during a shift include (but are not limited to):

  • Baggage and freight makeup;
  • Operation of a wide range of powered and non-powered airport equipment;
  • Loading and offloading aircraft holds;
  • Aircraft marshalling and dispatch;
  • Operating aeronautical radio systems;
  • Passenger checkin and boarding gate operations;
  • Preparation of manifests, flight documentation, and freight manifests;
  • Assisting passengers with special requirements to and from the aircraft;
  • Resolving mishandled baggage issues;
  • Cabin cleaning;
  • Standard housekeeping responsibilities;
  • Maintaining accurate flight records.

As we are a relatively small operator, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of different roles.  We offer comprehensive training delivered both internally and by our client airlines and encourage all staff members to gain competency across all aspects of the operation.

Aviation is a safety-critical industry, and we require all employees to be meticulous in following standardised procedures, reporting incidents and occurrences, and contributing to a safe and efficient workplace.

We are looking for people with a passion for aviation, a commitment to safety and a desire to learn. We have a strong focus on staff progression and will always strive to recruit internally for higher roles. This includes Team Leader, Supervisory and Managerial positions.  There are also opportunities to transfer to any of our numerous bases across NSW and Australia, and from time to time to assist short-term at these locations. The successful candidate will also gain access to comprehensive staff travel benefits across a network of regional and capital city destinations through our client airlines.

We are able to offer rotating rosters and also less structured casual rosters, depending on your preference and the requirements of our operation.

What we will need from you:

  • Fluent in spoken English;
  • Reliable transport to and from Griffith Airport;
  • Punctual, reliable and with excellent time management;
  • Computer literate;
  • Current Full State Drivers Licence;
  • Physically fit – able to lift 32kgs;
  • Able to obtain an ASIC (requires a federal police background check);
  • Willing and able to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Aus Flight Handling is a leading provider of ground and air cargo services, with a workforce of approximately 300 people, handling over 1100 flights per week at nineteen airports across Australia.

We strive to operate with the core values of People, Professionalism, and Partnership in all that we undertake. Our management philosophy is simple – “To have a work environment that enables staff to succeed in their position and to be a company that encourages all staff to take responsibility and ownership for their role, therefore helping them to achieve more satisfaction from their job, which will lead to a better working environment for all”.
