Job Summary
The Chef / Cook is a working supervisor responsible for supervising other kitchen staff during their shift. The Chef will ensure that the Line Cooks are being responsible for working their own individual station on the food line in the preparation of breakfast, lunch and dinner food.
Essential Functions
- Supervise other Kitchen Staff
- Prep food ingredients for each work day
- Cook and replenish food as necessary
- Maintain the functionality of kitchen equipment
- Maintain an organized, clean, and hazard-free workspace to maximise efficiency while cooking meals
- Adhere to food safety standards
- Oversee the appearance of food displays and the quality of the food being served
Other Functions
- Shovel snow near the restaurant entrance and delivery dock
NOTE All Charlotte Pass Snow Resort employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.
Customer Service Expectations
- With some customer contact, must be helpful, friendly, courteous and professional in accordance with Charlotte Pass’ commitment to providing superior customer service.
Qualifications
- High School Certificate, with previous food service experience preferred but not required.
- Can be trained on the job.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- General organizational skills, and some knowledge of food safety.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, and lifting up to 25kgs. Some bending and squatting to move food and supplies.
Work Environment
The position involves regular exposure to open flames and hot items, and the use of potentially hazardous sharp cutting utensils. Most work is performed indoors, but some occasional outdoor work, such as snow shoveling, may be required. Outdoor work is performed in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces.
