Chef- Food Services
We are seeking an experienced chef to work in our production kitchen at St Vincent’s Private Hospital to maintain high levels of professional standards in servicing patients across St Vincent’s Darlinghurst Campus.
St Vincent’s Private Hospital production kitchen is a cook fresh facility with a high quality food safety accredited meal service, producing more than 60,000 meals per month. This is a large team of approx. 40 staff in this busy kitchen. You will be directly managed by the kitchen supervisor, them reporting to the Head chef.
Over the next 12months we are looking to take the patient food offering to the next level, build a team to do what we do better, revise the patient menu, find new products and give the best service possible. Come join us on this journey.
About the Candidate:
Yours Skills and Experience:
High level of commitment to the philosophy, mission, values and ethics of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries and SVHA.
Ability to interpret and follow recipes and prepare a high volume of meals in a timely manner
Thorough understanding and ability to participate in Food Safety & WH&S programs.
Ability to assist in the design and testing of recipes
A high degree of personal hygiene and safe food practices
Ability to follow a schedule and work efficiently, with the ability to take on and allocate additional work as required
Experience working in a structured kitchen environment
Good understanding of daily production processes to ensure food forecasted is matched to food required
Competency working in various areas of the kitchen
Effective time management skills and capable of a high standard of unsupervised work
Other essential requirements include:
Minimum 2 years Food Production, processing, cooking experience in kitchen production unit.
Commercial Cookery Certificate III
Sound understanding of Food Safety/HACCP and all policies contained within
