Access the National Relay Service
Provide strategic direction to a team operating within a large facility for a Pathology discipline. Contribute to the development of professional standards on a State-Wide basis, as demonstrated through working broadly within the profession.
Be accountable for the administration, direction and control of the asset management and financial management of Microbiology in the Princess Alexandra Hospital laboratory. This is a fixed term contrct for 12 months full time.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated high level of clinical knowledge, expertise and skills in general microbiology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of microbiology and serology services.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational management to a microbiology division operating within a large tertiary referral facility or district service area.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and implement of new policies, methods, procedures and equipment as required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide authoritative counsel to stakeholders on matters falling within their given area of responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to apply strategic direction within a large facility; and contribute to the development of professional standards on a District and State-wide basis.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- The successful applicant must hold a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) degree, or an equivalent qualification.

- A post graduate qualification in Management or Microbiology is highly desirable.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of duties.
