We are seeking a skilled Chef specializing in Halal food preparation to join our dynamic team in Hadfield. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and culturally appropriate meals for approximately 100 children daily, across 5 rooms.
*Key Responsibilities: *
- Planning and developing a diverse range of Halal menus that meet various dietary requirements and cultural preferences.
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality Halal dishes, following strict protocols to avoid cross-contamination and ensure that meals are prepared in a safe environment to prevent allergic reactions.
- Ensuring that all food is nutritious and balanced meal plans that cater to various children’s allergies (such as nuts, dairy, gluten) and dietary of the children needs (like vegetarian or vegan diets).
- Maintaining high standards for dishes from preparation to presentation, ensuring that meals are visually appealing and enticing to children, which can encourage healthy eating habits.
- Sourcing and selecting fresh ingredients, maintaining an inventory of supplies, and managing food costs.
- Overseeing kitchen operations, including supervising kitchen staff, scheduling, and training.
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Effectively communicating with parents or guardians to understand each child's specific dietary needs and preferences.
- Regularly monitoring the health and feedback to adapt menus as needed, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition while enjoying their meals safely.
- Filling reports on kitchen operations and guardians’ and educators' feedback, ensuring efficient management and continuous improvement of service quality.
*Requirements: *
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a professional kitchen.
- Strong understanding of Halal dietary laws and experience in Halal meal preparation.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Permanent resident or citizen of Australia.
*Qualifications: *
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- Certificate lV in commercial cookery or equivalent.
- Diploma in hospitality management or equivalent.
- Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate.
- Valid working rights in Australia.
- Valid working with children check.
- First aid and CPR certificate.
