About the role:

The Children’s Services Coordinator will plan and deliver an appropriate Early Education and Care program and provide leadership and support to East Arnhem Regional Council’s (EARC) staff working in remote community Early Education and Care Centres. The overall objective is to ensure a high-quality service is provided that meets the needs of the local community.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • A minimum qualification of Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or Certification with the ability to enrol in and complete a Diploma.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of childcare legislation, including the National Quality Framework and all regulatory requirements.
  • Previous experience managing people / small teams, including human resources and payroll management
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and develop staff/teams
    Proven ability to effectively deliver early childhood programs
  • Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  •  Current approved qualifications in first aid, including asthma and anaphylaxis, and safe food handling.
  • The ability to maintain a safe working environment utilising principles of risk management.
  • Current C Class Driver’s License with ability to drive manual vehicles. 
     

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education 
  •  Previous experience living and/or working in a remote First Nations community within Australia. 
  • Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a cross-cultural workplace. 
  • Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.

All employment with the EARC is subject to a Criminal History Check and the ability to obtain a NT Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the inherent requirements to their position.

Employees must also be prepared to travel to remote communities via various means, including 4WD vehicle and light aircraft. East Arnhem Regional Council is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.

What you'll get in return:

Full Time Permanent employment.

Level 6 - Salary $87,190 - $92,500 (excluding super and locality allowance) with annual wage increase opportunities built into our EBA.

You will also benefit from 6 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.
