Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
New roles await youThe NDIA is increasing its effort to improve outcomes for children and young people in the NDIS based on the outcomes of the NDIS Review and other reform directions determined by the Australian Government and the NDIA Board.
The Childrens Taskforce is leading significant projects that are designed to improve the way that the NDIS works for children and their families. The Taskforce has both a policy and project focus and has strong interactions with other elements of the NDIA’s significant reform agenda.

Where you can add valueOur range of roles within the Childrens Taskforce will see you delivering key outcomes for the agency and changing the lives of children who live with a disability. To help us achive these you can expect to:
As an APS 6:
- Research, review and analyse best practice frameworks and resources.
- Draft written advice such as briefs, correspondence, submissions, policy documents, plans, reports, discussion papers and corporate documentation.
- Provide support in consultation and engagement to provide advice to inform improvements.
- Support the development, coordination, monitoring and reporting of strategic, operational and project plans including managing project schedules.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and synthesizing evidence and research to support informed decision-making and planning.
- Identify and assist with the management of project risks, issues and benefits.
- Contribute to project quality management to ensure that deliverables are fit for purpose.
As an EL1:
- Lead a team and contribute to the development and analysis of policy in a specialised area of work that requires consideration of sensitive issues project planning, design and development functions to support service improvement.
- Support the Director and SES leaders in the coordination, management and delivery of strategic policy products, informed through co-design with the community.
- Contribute to project design, governance arrangements and operational integration so that project deliverables and milestones are met.
- Draft policy documents, reports, briefing papers, Ministerial correspondence, Cabinet submissions and discussion papers.
- Manage and resolve competing work priorities.
As an EL2:
- Lead and contribute to project planning, design, and development functions to support service improvement across the whole Taskforce workplan.
- Lead and manage a diverse team for high performance, promoting a climate of accountability and continuous improvement, including work planning, coaching and staff development activities.
- Coordinate, manage and deliver strategic policy products, informed through co-design with the community.
- Develop and interpret policy in a specialised area of work that requires consideration of sensitive issues.
- Drive a suite of projects within a broader reform program of work and ensuring high quality inputs and deliverables.
- Prepare, review, and advise on policy reports, briefing papers, Ministerial correspondence, Cabinet submissions and discussion papers.
- Monitor and evaluate projects to ensure that objectives are being met within budget and timeframes.
- Adapt and respond quickly in changing situations.
You will be a highly motivated individual who is adept at exercising initiative and judgment and have superior written and verbal communication skills.
A problem solver who is able to work collaboratively in a change environment to identify, develop and evaluate solutions to complex policy issues.
Committed to authentic collaboration with key stakeholders and actively applying the voice and experience those key stakeholders into changes to policies and practice. You will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues affecting children with disability and their families and carers and strong desire to work on achieving improved outcomes.

Roles within our team can be performed from various locations Australia. Please refer to our website for a list of NDIA offices. remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill roles in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
