About the role
This full-time permanent position reports to the Supervisor Urban Forest, and is responsible for professional care and maintenance of the City’s tree assets. If you have prior experience and qualifications maintaining trees and like to work outdoors in a team, then this could be a great opportunity for you!
A snapshot of your new role:
- Carry out effective planting, care and maintenance of trees in parks and streetscapes
- Conduct daily maintenance and inspections of vehicles, plant and equipment
- Use arboricultural tools of trade including, secateurs, saws, and hand tools to formatively prune, shape and manage trees as needed
- Where appropriate, guide community members on tree care practices and preservation
Who we’re looking for:
- Certificate III in Arboriculture/Horticulture (or working towards) and minimum 1 years’ experience in Arboriculture or a related field
- Proven knowledge or experience in tree/shrub planting and maintenance
- Able to competently identify trees and shrubs and manage pests and diseases appropriately
- Able to safely operate and maintain arboricultural hand tools
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s license (‘MR’ class highly desirable)
- White Card
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)

- $65,755.04 - $69,257.38 per annum / $33.28 - $35.05 per hour (base rate & merit pay) + super + penalties for overtime
