'JUNIOR' SERVICE ATTENDANT
Service Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring smooth operations in the front of a dining establishment. Here's a breakdown of their typical duties and responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Greeting customers as they enter the establishment, assisting with seating arrangements, and providing menus. They are the first point of contact for customers, so they must be friendly, welcoming, and attentive to their needs.
- Taking Orders: Taking food and drink orders from customers, accurately recording them, and communicating them to the kitchen or bar staff promptly. They may also offer recommendations or answer questions about the menu.
- Serving Food and Beverages: Delivering orders to customers' tables efficiently and accurately, ensuring that all items are presented correctly and any special requests are accommodated. They may also be responsible for refilling drinks and clearing empty plates from tables.
- Handling Payments: Processing payments from customers using cash registers or electronic payment systems, including handling cash, processing credit card transactions, and providing change or receipts as needed.
- Upselling and Promotions: Informing customers about specials, promotions, or additional menu items to increase sales and enhance the dining experience.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensuring that the dining area is clean, tidy, and well-maintained at all times. This includes clearing tables, wiping down surfaces, and resetting tables for the next guests.
- Assisting with Special Events: During busy periods or special events, FOH attendants may be required to assist with tasks such as setting up additional seating, coordinating reservations, or helping to serve large parties.
- Communicating with Kitchen Staff: Acting as a liaison between the kitchen and the dining area, relaying orders accurately and addressing any concerns or special requests from customers.
- Handling Customer Concerns: Addressing any complaints or issues that arise from customers in a professional and courteous manner, and escalating them to management if necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Following Safety and Hygiene Standards: Adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment to ensure the health and safety of customers and staff.
