CIVIL CONSTRUCTION TRAINER

Danford College is a Registered Training Provider and a CRICOS Provider for overseas students.

Danford College is looking for a Civil Construction Trainer - Local civil engineer or overseas equivalent approved by Engineers Australia (EA) to join our team and to customise and deliver training to a technical cohort in their state-of-the-art facilities based in Melbourne CBD. Ideal applicants must have experience in dealing with international students as well as an understanding of the Australian Qualification Framework and vocational education sector.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the development on growing the training program to ensure sustainability within the competitive training marketplace
• Develop and deliver courses that provide training and employment opportunities to students
• Promote the development of new learning opportunities, technologies, relationships and values and works collaboratively across all areas of the curriculum and with interested stakeholders in the broader community
• Value team problem solving and strategic issues management
• Promote the significant role of training in the social and economic future of Australia in meeting skill shortages
• Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment for staff, students, others and self and comply with all safe working practices, procedures and instructions
• Responsibility for the proper implementation, co-ordination and delivery of the relevant training program
• Reporting to Academic Team Leader, Administration staff and industry, to ensure currency and relevance of the training program and the needs of students
• Regularly exposed to industry workplaces
• Participation in relevant professional development activities

• Conduct lectures, tutorials workshop and practical sessions to meet course requirements
• Assist in the administration of the course taught
• Manage assessment requirements
• Participate in meetings as directed by management
• Participate in enrolment including program advice
• Provide student consultation as appropriate throughout the teaching team
• Maintain currency in discipline area
• Adherence to relevant College academic and human resources policies and procedures as advised at induction and other information sessions
• Ensure a workplace free from discrimination and bullying 
   

The successful applicant should possess:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience or related field
• Deep understanding of analytics with a proven track record of using data to drive decisions
• Excellent communication skills, as well as stakeholder management experience required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and organisational skills
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work in a team as well as able to work independently
• Experience in civil work or construction
• A proactive team player with strong project management skills
