The Civil Engineering Internship Program is a great option if you’re studying engineering in Australia, need industry experience relevant to your degree, and want academic credit for the internship.
It’s suitable for international engineering students in Australia who need practical local Civil Engineering work experience with Australian companies. The Internship Program is open to local students as well.
If you’re a new graduate or your degree has no internship requirement, you can enrol in the Internship Program and combine your internship placement with an accredited Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program.
The Internship Program is facilitated by CareerDC. We are work experience placement coordinators. For over a decade, we’ve assisted engineering students in Australia get degree-relevant work experience in internship placements with local businesses.
To give you some examples, the internship host companies include:

As another example, your internship could include any combination of the following types of tasks and learning experiences, depending on the host company:
- Using software or calculations to determine stress and strain on critical structural members
- Assisting designers using AutoCAD
- Assisting with the preparation of technical reports
- Reviewing architectural plans and structural designs
- Learning about identifying and analysing load-bearing components and structural elements
