The opportunity
A fantastic opportunity is now available for an experienced Civil/ Structural Engineer Engineer to join our team.
The role is autonmous and includes future development of a team of engineers at our new office in Newcastle, NSW.
A vast majority of your work in this role will relate to existing buildings (residential/commercial/industrial) that have been damaged by fires, tree/vehicle impacts, flood and storm , diagnosing building movement issues. The role will be a 50/50 split between site and office work.
This role is ideally suited to a degree qualified Civil/Structural Engineer with experience in a consultancy background with forensic engineering/building skills. Remedial consultant experience will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Prepare causation reports on defects and damage to buildings and associated structures.
- Prepare scope of works and specifications in accordance with Australian Standards and Building Code of Australia
- Perform Structural Design of Timber, Steel and Concrete structures utilising suitable design software
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail in all technical aspects
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Civil/ Structural Engineer within a Consulting Engineering Firm
- Remedial Experience will be considered
- Local experience
- Technical writing skills are essential including preparation of reports and scope of works
- Residential experience
- A disciplined, technical mind
- Proven experience interpreting structural behaviour
- Experience with building defects including waterproofing, building movement, flashing defects, roof defects, etc
- Prior experience in analysis and designing a range of structures including retaining walls, residential frames, slabs and footings, structural steel.
- Ability to perform roof space, roof level and sub-floor inspections
- Ability to travel interstate as required
