A bit about the role
As the Claims and Injury Management Officer, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice to management and staff on matters relating to preventative Injury Management and non-work-related injuries. Reporting to the Team Leader People & Partnerships, you will provide key support to the Claims and Injury Management Advisor on the management of WorkCover claims.
To be successful in this role, you will have an amazing ability to build relationships, collaborate and partner with our People Business Partners, the OH&S team, work across our diverse business, and partner with our insurance provider to ensure adherence to legislative requirements.
Every day will bring new situations and require you to be personable and empathetic when working and supporting injured workers, enjoy problems solving, be autonomous in making decisions, and at times manage resistance with stakeholders. Our goal is to have our people return to work in a safe manner.
What you’ll deliver
- Provide cost effective, efficient and responsive claims management, including analysis and processing of Claims and calculating weekly compensation payments, in compliance with legislation and regulations
- Design return to work programs to minimise lost time relating to both work-related and non-work- related injuries/conditions
- Provide direction and training across Council to comply with matters relating to Injury Management, risk management, wellbeing and early intervention
- Provide input into policy and procedure reviews in relation to Employee Engagement and occupational health and safety, as well as Injury Management
- Support the Claims & Injury Management Advisor to minimise the risks to Council and Individuals developing and monitoring appropriate Return to Work plans in compliance with obligations
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience in report and letter writing
- Experience handling WorkCover processes
- Demonstrated experience managing return to work processes including an understanding of risk minimisation practice and procedures
- Sound knowledge of the principles and application of relevant legislation and regulations
- Preparation and management of return to work plans
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Rehabilitation or Injury Management and demonstrated experience in claims management related to WorkCover and non-work-related matters or lesser qualification with substantial relevant experience
- Completed Return to Work Coordinators course by a recognised WorkSafe provider
