Full-time maximum term position to 31 January 2025, based in Mildura
Annual salary is $69,177 + 11% super

About the roleWe are currently seeking applications for a Client & Housing Support Officer position. If successful, you will be responsible for providing support to newly arrived clients in finding and securing affordable short term and long term accommodation, to support clients to attend appointments and support the Case Manager with administrative duties.
To be considered for this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:
Minimum 1 years' experience in assisting CALD clients to find accommodation
A current valid Driver Licence for Victoria, and access to your own car
Ability and willingness to work across Mildura and the Mallee region as required by client demand
A current Working With Children Check (Employee) for Victoria
Experience in housing and/or tenancy work and demonstrated understanding of relevant tenancy legislation
Experience in delivering information to small groups, particularly from CALD backgrounds
Ability to manage realistic client expectations
Previous experience working with recently arrived CALD communities
Effective interpersonal, cross cultural communication and client advocacy skills and the ability to liaise effectively with contractual partners, mainstream and settlement service providers as well as refugee/ humanitarian clients and their communities, and volunteers
Proficiency in a relevant community language desirable (language as applicable to program)
Sound understanding of current Commonwealth and State policies related to housing, immigration, settlement, income support and other relevant social policies and demonstrated ability to respond flexibly to changing policy and program needs
Demonstrated experience in working autonomously as well as collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams to achieve / exceed key performance goals
Strong written communication, report writing, word processing, organisational and time management skills
Organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
Proficiency with IT standard software such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and ability to use Internet and e-mail and other online products
Working knowledge of policies and referral protocols relating to housing and tenancy
Demonstrated positive values of integrity, reliability, teamwork and professionalism consistent with the AMES Australia Vision and demonstrated commitment to performance management, quality and continuous improvement principles
