A newly created and exciting opportunity is available within our Environment and Waste Department as Climate Change Education Officer to lead and champion the implementation and promotion of Strathbogie Shire Council's Climate Change Action Plan, while resolving new and emerging Waste and Environmental challenges.
The role will:
- Develop a strategic program to implement and coordinate effective waste minimisation and environmental education for the community with a focus on behaviour change initiatives.
- Develop, implement, monitor and review organisation policies, plans, processes and procedures to ensure that Climate Change impacts are addressed.
- Liaise with external stakeholders including Victorian Litter Action Alliance and Sustainability Victoria to ensure a coordinated approach to waste and environmental education.
- Deliver projects, education and communications about Climate Change and from the Climate Change Action Plan.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- An demonstrated understanding and knowledge of education and behavioural change programs in particular, their development and implementation.
- Sound knowledge of current waste and environmental strategies and best practice in waste management.
- A demonstrated understanding of Climate Change and its impacts on our populations and environment.
- An understanding of the long-term goals of the Environment and Waste Department and it’s relevant policies.
