Pulse Climbing is the heart of indoor climbing, with gyms on the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter Valley. We have training facilities, youth climbing clinics, adult courses and coaching for all abilities, regular social nights and community events, and host competitions. Our people and our community are central to everything we do.
We’re looking for someone to manage our bouldering gym at Maitland.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing floor staff, the setting and wall stripping teams, and social media staff.
- Recruiting, training and rostering staff.
- Ensuring safety, including Child Safety, is the first priority for everyone on the team.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the gym.
- Maintaining equipment, facilities and cleanliness standards.
- Ensuring that our staff provide a quality experience to visitors by prioritising safety, expanding their knowledge, and encouraging friendliness and community.
- Administrative tasks, including data entry, reporting, record-keeping and responding to correspondence.
- Coordinating events and promotions to keep our community growing, psyched and connected.
- Engage with the Maitland community. Support clubs and individuals sponsored by Pulse Climbing, including local sports clubs and young athletes.
- Building the Pulse Climbing Maitland customer base through ongoing sales and community engagement.
Selection criteria:
You must:
- Be an inspiring leader with excellent communication and organisational skills
- Be able to manage a medium-sized team of staff in a variety of roles
- Have a current WWCC and First Aid certificate (or ability to obtain before starting the role).
- Work cohesively and collaboratively to solve problems and make improvements.
- Be confident giving and accepting feedback in a way that encourages growth and confidence.
- Be confident working with computers and databases.
- Be passionate about our climbing community.
Desirable:
- Management experience and training
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities
- Coaching experience
- Climbing experience
Job Details:
- 30-38 hours per week.
