Thousands of properties across Australia are currently listed on the Housing Hub website, making it easier for housing seekers to find the right home. Finding the right home can be a long and complicated process, so we’ve created an online community where housing seekers and housing providers work together to develop a market where people with disability enjoy choice and control.

Our Clinical Advisor is part of the Clinical Practice team and is responsible for providing clinical governance support for all Teams who support NDIS participants to achieve outstanding Home and Living Outcomes and ensuring that employees have expert assistance to resolve complex client scenarios.

About the role
The Clinical Advisor must be an Allied Health Practitioner who is passionate about mentoring staff, continuous improvement and maintaining best practice in the NDIS Home and Living sector. The applicant should ideally have a high level of knowledge of NDIS legislation, with a strong commitment to keeping up to date with common and best practice across the sector and changes to NDIA practices. The role is a fixed term parental leave backfill and reports to the Clinical Practice Manager and sits within the Clinical Practice Team.
This role is pivotal to our mission and helps people with disability and their supporters to understand options available to them in the disability housing market. It also guides and develops expertise in other staff by providing 1:1 support.
If you were in the role last week you may have been:
  • Providing clinical support in the form of mentoring and training to staff
  • Providing subject matter expertise to team members working with clients who are seeking complex housing and support solutions
  • Assisting with the development and documentation of procedures and operating guidelines to support best practice service provision
  • Assisting with the design and implementation of service improvement projects
  • At team meetings and learning sessions
  • Assisting with data and reporting
Clinical support
  • Establish trust and rapport with members of all teams, providing clinical support, guidance and mentorship as required across services
  • Assist with the design and implementation of consistent processes for all Specialist Services teams, including implementation of standardised clinical practice guidelines, systems and tools
  • Assist with the design and implementation of standardised effectiveness and impact measures for all Specialist Services teams, ensuring outcomes are regularly reported and acted upon
  • Assist with the design and implementation of standardised quality assurances processes for Specialist Services teams
  • Design and implement processes, tools and/or meetings for sharing feedback and best practice approaches across teams
  • Identify and implement methods for incorporating feedback and input from people with disability into service design, ensuring a co-design approach to the team’s work wherever possible
  • Develop practice knowledge and skills in navigating the interface between sectors including Support Coordinators, Allied Health, Justice, Hospital and Community based professionals, and the NDIA, to offer quality information and advice
  • Develop and maintain a high level expertise in the requirements for NDIS Home and Living Supports, including SDA, SIL and ILO and the associated regulatory and policy environment
  • Remain up to date with NDIA, housing and health policy, and support the delivery of a structured program of professional development for internal Housing Hub teams
Incident management
  • Assist leads of Specialist Services teams to ensure that operational incidents within areas of responsibility are identified, assessed and reported on, and that appropriate rectification actions are undertaken within a reasonable period of time
  • Review, provide advice on and assist with responding to operational incidents and complaints, ensuring that learnings are incorporated into continuous service improvement

Qualifications
  • Allied health qualifications i.e. Occupational Health preferred or Social Work, Physiotherapy
Skills and experience
  • Significant experience within a for purpose organisation, including program/service design
  • Significant experience in training and mentoring other professionals in the disability/health sectors
  • Strong working knowledge of best practice service design and delivery, duty of care and contemporary service delivery for people with complex disability
  • Knowledge of the NDIS, Home and Living Supports and the accessible housing market
  • The ability to problem solve
  • Decision making capability
  • Risk and compliance management experience
  • The ability to communicate with all levels of staff and be able to present either in person or via video
