About the Opportunity
Bowral Hospital, is seeking a proactive, enthusiastic and organised individual to join the team as a Clinical Coding Supervisor.
You will be working in a small rural hospital, where you can make a real difference with your skills. You will be analytically minded and highly organised. You will understand the importance of accuracy and timeliness of information and have attention to detail at the forefront of your role.
You will be a natural leader and be able to mentor and train entry level coders, assisting with educating and auditing on the team. You will have a strong understanding of Ministry of Health coding deadlines and strive to have a positive impact on the quality of clinical documentation, Clinical Coding and accurate Activity Based Funding (ABF) for the facility.
We are seeking an experienced administrator who is adaptable to change and works well with a range of technological suites and programs. Your outgoing and friendly nature will assist you in becoming part of a dedicated and community focused team who thrive on improving health outcomes in the local community.
What You'll be Doing
To assist the Clinical Information Manager in developing and implementing strategies to maintain the quality of coded data to accurately reflect the casemix of Bowral & District Hospital. Flexible Working arrangements can be discussed.

Bowral & District Hospital is part of the South West Sydney Local Health District with strong and established networks to tertiary facilities of Campbelltown and Liverpool.
Bowral & District Hospital is a level 3 acute bed facility which provides a wide range of services including 24 hour Emergency Department, 2 x Operating Theatres plus a Procedures room, Day Surgery, Endoscopy, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Critical and Coronary Care, Maternity & Paediatrics.
The Hospital has established an excellent reputation in the community for its commitment to safe, quality patient care.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Completion of a recognised ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS coding course or relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management/Medical Records Management with experience in Clinical Coding.
  • Demonstrated high level current Clinical Coding knowledge and experience with current industry experience for a minimum of 3 years full time employment in a hospital environment using ICD-10-AM/ACHI, the Australian Coding Standards and the 3M Encoder.
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in casemix, DRGs and ABF with a demonstrated ability to produce accurate coded clinical data whilst meeting throughput targets.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of data/information reports and the development/implementation of coding quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated high level computer skills and experience in using MS Office, a Patient Administration System, electronic medical record, 3M CodeFinder and other electronic coding resource materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise a high volume workload and meet deadlines. Proven ability to determine integrity of data and problem solve.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in complying with the NSW Health Privacy Manual, with a thorough understanding of confidentiality.
