About the Role
We are pleased to announce that we have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced Senior Psychologist/Allied Health Clinician to provide leadership to the Jacana team at Monash Children’s Hospital as Clinical Coordinator, to consolidate and support the multi-disciplinary assessment of young children with pre-natal alcohol exposure and boarder neurodevelopmental problems. This is a part-time (0.4 EFT), 2 year fixed-term role. The role will include coordinating the activities of the multi-disciplinary team in preparing for and providing weekly assessment clinics, this will include screening appropriate referrals, identifying assessments required under the Australian FASD Diagnostic Guidelines (2016), initiating pre-clinic assessments, and coordinating multidisciplinary assessments.
About Us
The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service, through Developmental Paediatrics, provides specialist multidisciplinary assessments for children with pre-natal alcohol exposure, who show complex neurological, developmental, and behavioural symptoms. The service also delivers education, information and resources to communities at high risk of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and provides clinical training in FASD diagnosis for paediatricians, psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and social workers. The FASD Services at Monash Children’s Hospital comprises pathways for children 0-3 years through Jacana Clinic, and 3-10 years through VicFAS. This role is with the Jacana Clinic.
About You
You are a highly-skilled Paediatric clinician in either Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology. You have extensive experience in developmental assessment of young children in early intervention, child development, infant mental health or disability settings. You have strong leadership skills and a passion to work with babies and young children. You are keen to be a key part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that is building this innovative service. You also have the following qualities:
- Passion for working with children and infants
- Great organisation and ability to work across caseloads
- Committed to delivering patient centred care and patient advocacy
- Experience working as part of a wide multidisciplinary team
- Great communication skills with patients, families and other team members
- Senior psychologist or Senior Allied Health Clinician (OT, Speech)
- Current relevant AHPRA / discipline specific accreditations
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field of early childhood development or infant mental health in your discipline, at a minimum P3 (or equivalent) level.
- Demonstrated experience as indicated in the position description
