The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is a non Government Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of community programs and has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
The Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for programs under the clinical services stream of Mental Health and AOD. This includes coordinating counselling services, effectively managing risk, direct line management of staff under your supervision, meeting attendance, maintaining the quality standards within the team including support for accreditation, and taking an active role to support the needs of staff, the manager, organisation, and community.
Specific requirements of this position include but are not limited to;
- Coordinating clinical services
- Oversee scheduling of counselling appointments
- Respond to client complaints and concerns
- Oversee referral process
- Ensure quality standards are upheld
- Supervision, mentoring and leading a team
- Managing staff performance appraisals and staff improvement plans
- Preparing reports as required
- Analyse client and service data
Essential Aspects
- Tertiary qualifications at a minimum of Bachelor level in a related field to mental health, alcohol and other drug, or counselling.
- Good experience in working with Aboriginal people.
- Knowledge of a broad range of mental health and AOD approaches to support good health and wellbeing.
- Demonstrated experience in a counselling approach.
- Must a person that people would respect.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with workers and other staff.
- Possession of a current National Federal Police Certificate and Working with Children Check, NDIS Clearance or willingness to obtain them.
- Current valid Driver’s Licence.

- Demonstrated knowledge of and engagement with local mental health and social support services in the South West
