Mental Health Services, Central Australia Region NT Health is now seeking an experienced Clinical Director of Mental Health to provide high level leadership and management of medical services in the Mental Health Service in Central Australia (CA) and Barkly Regions of NT Health.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced clinical leader, with a passion for regional and remote health care provision, to live and work in a unique and wonderful region of Australia. NT Health Central Australia Region cares for Territorians, and particularly recognises the complex needs of the Aboriginal population over a vast geographical area.
The focus of this role is to provide high level clinical leadership and strategic direction across Mental Health Services for the Central Australia Region. Reporting to the General Manager, Mental Health Services NT Health - Central Australia Region, the Clinical Director will be part of the Mental Health Service Leadership Team.
To be a strong candidate for the role you will have:
- Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist, Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent, with extensive relevant clinical psychiatric experience in medical practice as a Staff Specialist.
- Extensive experience in the delivery of MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES in a complex environment with a demonstrated and proven record of successful outcomes.
- Knowledge of particular issues facing First Nations populations and a commitment to the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
- Demonstrated high-level leadership and managerial skills, practical people management and the ability to successfully support change in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience in leading successful change and implementing contemporary models of service delivery
- A passion to live as part of, and contribute to, a vibrant community in a thriving part of Australia.
This role is based in Alice Springs which is located in the Northern Territory on the Stuart Highway, midway between Darwin and Adelaide. The city can be accessed easily via road, rail and air. Residents have access to all of the standard trimmings of a large regional center, including supermarkets, cafes and pubs, clubs, hotels, and a range of accommodation options from basic to luxury, along with spectacular visitor camping grounds and natural attractions. Within short drives, there are a plethora of walking trails, water holes and iconic sites to explore, along with learning about the traditions and customs of the Aboriginal people of Central Australia.
Today, many of its residents have come from somewhere else. It’s home to a youthful population comprising professionals, progressives and those pursuing alternative and active lifestyles.
For families, there are a range of highly regarded public and private schools, along with many activities for children, teenagers and families to participate in, should they choose.
An adventure seeker’s mecca, the Northern Territory offers wide-open stretches of rich red outback, clear waterholes, and ancient Aboriginal culture.
