Kate Merchant - Inverell Midwife: "I have had so many wonderful learning opportunities in our small rural site and after completing the MIDStart Program seven years ago, opportunities for growth in my Midwifery Career have been endless. Inverell Maternity is a place where you will feel welcomed with open arms. We have an amazing team of knowledgeable, highly skilled and dedicated midwives and GP Obstetricians. And most importantly we are very well looked after by our Maternity Unit Manager. As a working mother of two small children, I have been provided with support and flexibility in my position to continue to do my job as well as further my skills and career".

As our next Clinical Midwife Educator, you will take on a pivotal role in nurturing our team of up to 8 midwifery professionals and one student midwife. With Inverell Hospital facilitating approximately 200-220 births annually, our recently refurbished facilities boast two private birthing suites complete with spa amenities and stunning views of the town, fostering a tranquil environment for our patients. Offering water immersion and assisted birthing options, we are the preferred choice for expectant mothers in the region.

As part of our tight-knit team, you'll have the chance to contribute to the growth and success of our new midwifery professionals. Guided by the mentorship of our former CME, you'll undergo thorough orientation and continuous support. Through partnerships with the Child Stuart Rural Midwifery Program and universities, we ensure consistent training and assistance for all midwives. Beyond your primary responsibilities, you'll also engage in rewarding antenatal and postnatal care, further enhancing your expertise.

Interested in maintaining your skills as a Registered Midwife while transitioning into the role of a CME? Full-time positions within a midwifery setting are available! Speak with the Hiring Manager to explore this opportunity further.
