Country Nursing and Midwifery Incentive Program

Ever considered a career in the country? The Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to support new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles.  It is available to new and existing nurses working full-time, part-time on fixed-term and permanent contracts across 76 select sites. Eligible nurses and midwives may receive between $5,000 and $17,000 paid over 12-months.

This is a permanent or fixed term appointment at various hours per fortnight with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Position Profile: In collaboration with the community-based Step Up Step Down (SUSD) organisation, undertakes assessments, and plans, implements and evaluates recovery based and consumer focused Community Mental Health nursing care to consumers of the regional SUSD facility as part of the Goldfields Community Mental Health service.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with psychiatric disorders and treatment interventions, and principles of community based, and recovery focussed mental health care and illness prevention.
  • Demonstrated well developed written and verbal communication, negotiating and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with clients from a variety of cultural and ethnic groups.
  • A working knowledge of the WA Mental Health Act (2014) and other relevant legislation.
